hi!

i've had the chance to handle a mail system for 5+ years and have used postfix
for smtp (very configurable), courier for pop and imap daemons which can easily
be configured for ldap and sql lookups, maildrop and procmail for my virtual
and local delivery agents. didn't ran into any serious problems. performance
was great too. i did check out qmail but eventually chose postfix cause it
performed faster on several tests.

squirrelmail is feature-packed and good for web access. and there's assp if you
want a very good anti-spam.

hth,
glenn
