I've been on Dvorak (not John, ha ha!) for more than three years now and the experience is very positive. For typing text like this it's really very convenient. For programming (I do C#) it's quite difficult at first since the symbol keys are assigned to the little fingers. But I've gotten used to it already.
It's just unnerving to have "unintuitive" keystrokes in vi, for instance.
