One of my peeves about switching to DVORAK is that editor keymaps (vi
or emacs) in the QWERTY layout are already stuck in my brain. And I'm
already a reasonably quick touch typist on QWERTY, so any speed
increases won't really improve my productivity. Quite the contrary,
struggling with the new keyboard mapping for someone who's ALREADY a
QWERTY touch typist can eat into my time.

Then there's the issue of DVORAK being designed to improve typing in
English. It's great if you're a secretary who does nothing but type
English reports or any kind of text churning job, but any speed
improvements are negligible when you don't really spurn out text in
volume and if you're writing stuff that isn't English. Command line
stuff isn't really english.

So, I'll stick to QWERTY. Besides, I don't use just ONE machine and I
can't depend on the Dvorak layout being available everywhere I go.
