what you'd really want is to split those jobs into 2 separate machines. get a decent server for 15k to 25k... for all your lamp stuff, etc. etc. 2 to 4gb of ram, would be good. dual core, lots of sata storage and of course your ups. As for video editing... that's really for a separate machine. as you'll find that that taxes CPU, and should have all the ram you can afford, not to mention the biggest video card, as well as your video capture boards, etc. etc. you can find. there are good linux software for that, not to mention windows, and mac software-- what works and can afford right? Really, not a great idea to virtualize a video editing machine. Virtualization is a great piece of technology, but it isn't a magic pill. ------------------ Cocoy "People who are really serious about software should make their own hardware." --Alan Kay _________________________________________________ Philippine Linux Users' Group (PLUG) Mailing List [email protected] (#PLUG @ irc.free.net.ph) Read the Guidelines: http://linux.org.ph/lists Searchable Archives: http://archives.free.net.ph
