Hi Carlos :
Based on what I see in UNIX, you can set the keyboard mapping based on
your terminal type.
You probably want to check /etc/profile, home/<name>/.profile,
/home<name>/.bashrc. Comparing
environment variables such as : $TERM, $LC_LOCALE, $LANG might help too.
Sometime Unicode setting
can affect the way things are displayed especially for non-ASCII characters.
Check for commands
such as "stty" in the aforementioned files.
Since you said that it happens when it is on runlevel 5 (X-Windows), you
might want to check
your /etc/inittab. It might have have something to do with getty settings.
