I'm no Sun expert, but 2 weeks ago I've installed SLES11 on Sun x4140 and everything is working properly. I've tried compiling some packages and kernel source and I'm impressed with the compile speed. I'm also impressed with the IO performance using RAID5E config. For me this is a freaking monster box! OSOL performance sucks compared to Linux and *BSD, but I like their ZFS and dtrace. For me IMHO, OpenSolaris as a storage system and Linux/BSD as application/DB server. Cheers, -- Jimmy B.
