   That's apparently the default with pine/alpine. It's worked for a dozen
years, and seems appropriate since I use the same box as both the (mail)
server and my workstation. If there's a smooth transition to maildir, I've
no objection to using that instead.

   How might a locking flag suddenly go missing? And why would it affect only
specific sending domains, and consistently do so? Two of those domains had
not before sent me any messages, but each sent two (original and a resend)
and neither made it to my INBOX. The third sends messages every day that
were always seen. That stopped earlier this week.
