Help. Sound out has quit on one channel only. That is, system sound test, audacity, amarok, and on-line videos all lack output on one channel. The microphone plugged into the sound card, however, generates output on both channels (as seen by ecasignalview). I unplugged the cable to the amp at the sound card and tested to ensure that both channels respond, so the problem is not in the hardware external to the computer.
ecasignalview shows signal on only one channel (from software sources). Kmix has a right/left balance slider. It is set in the middle, but if I move it much at all the master volume drops to near zero. Raising the master control back up restores the working channel output, but the dead channel remains dead.
