In place upgrade? I'm not familiar with the term. Seeing how the repositories and such are gone, I no longer have an option to upgrade to 8.04 from the updater? I actually discovered that I couldn't get access the repositories when I was trying to get gparted working to format a new hdd. I was able to use my live disc to accomplish the task, which was step one towards backing up and upgrading the system to 9.04. I guess I'm just confused about what my best route is at this point. Should I download and burn a DVD and try to upgrade with that, or just start clean? Last time I did a clean install it was after I tried to upgrade to 8.04 and lost access to my hdd. In light of that, it seems like I might be best off just skipping the upgrade step? I guess all I have to lose is time by trying the upgrade... But I know a clean install would fix my non-functioning GPU, as well. Ah, choices... > Message: 3 Date: Fri, 24 Apr 2009 10:54:57 -0700 From: "chris (fool) > mccraw" <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [PLUG] Ubuntu Updating To: > "General Linux/UNIX discussion and help, civil and on-topic" > <[email protected]> Message-ID: > <[email protected]> > Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 On Fri, Apr 24, 2009 at > 10:24, William Olson <[email protected]> wrote: >> > I've also missed the EOL for Gutsy. ? So, if I use: deb http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu gutsy main universe restricted multiverse deb http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu gutsy-updates main universe restricted multiverse deb http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu gutsy-security main universe restricted multiverse Will that work for installing new programs or updating those that I already have? Can this help me update from 7.10 to something more recent? _______________________________________________ PLUG mailing list [email protected] http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
