Which I found out from: http://127.0.0.1:631/printers . The problem is not slow printing at the printer; that is, the driver is not the issue. Once the print job gets to CUPS it is sent rapidly to the printer which images it in less than a minute. The problem is in the PDF reader (Okular or Adobe Reader 9.1).
