Finally got the last piece in place just now. I discovered that I had to manually load (i.e., 'modprobe') both /lib/modules/2.6.28.15-generic/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/orinoco and ../orinoco_cs. After checking with lsmod that they were loaded, I ran '/etc/init.d/networking start' and the pcmcia Orinoco Gold card came up on eth1. Whew! The power-off-on-shutdown issue remains unresolved. I added 'apci=force pci=noapci" to the kernel line in /boot/grub/menu.lst, but it makes no difference. This is not a fatal flaw, just a bother since previous versions of the distribution would turn off the power after the system was halted. Rich -- Richard B.
