i ask because maybe it's just a DNS quirk, and you could lock down his
nameservers to some of the free ones (ie google dns:
http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/).  when i want the one-step
"damnit i said stop mucking with my /etc/resolv.conf file, network
startup scripts and dhclient!" solution, i edit, then chattr +i
/etc/resolv.conf.  works on any distro, kills buggy dns server specs
dead.
