I've not done this before, but others here have so I know there's a lot of
expertise here.

My niece is visiting up here and wants to connect remotely to the work
server. Their IT folks tell the users that only a host running Microsoft can
connect to their Web server, so she brought her work machine up here with
her.

What do I need to do to the local network other than attaching a cat5
cable from her machine to the firewall/bridge/switch? This will be a
one-time connection, but I suspect that makes no difference. Do I add her as
a user and assign her machine a static IP address (like the other nodes on
the network)?

We'll also try having her use my workstation with Opera and see if that
works for her.

TIA,

Rich
