The boot process halts before any chance to log in, even with a >password set for root. Although I do like to have a root password set, if I ever get a system that will not boot I immediately reach for my GRML rescue CD. GRML is command line only, but better than any other I have ever used. It has a complete set of tools - nano, vi(m), mdadm, fdisk, e2fsck, grub, etc. It also automounts every partition and leaves me at a root prompt. There is also Knoppix, but GRML is leaner and faster because it was designed specifically for fixing systems that won't boot. _______________________________________________ PLUG mailing list [email protected] http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
