It has been my experience that these types of eSATA enclosures are "dumb"
devices.  This means that there are NO active devices in them and they
simply provide a case, SATA to eSATA adapter and power supply.  They should
support any drive that the chipset on your motherboard supports.  This
should also include hot swapping, assuming you are using a recent kernel.
