Just so you know, if an interface is mentioned in /e/n/i then NM on Debian
will not touch it: it assumes the sysadmin had a good reason for doing
old-style configuration and trusts them.

So, if you have it in there you should remove it and ... restart NM.
Rebooting is the only way I know to do that which doesn't potentially break
other things.

Please don't get me wrong: I am not aiming to judge you or anything here.  My
hope is to help you, and I am sorry if it came across any other way. :)

The part I am most interested in is if the NIC has detected link, and what it
negotiated with the far end.  That will help rule out the problem being that
the NIC, the cable, or the router are "not working" here. :)
