It's a 500G/7200RPM SATA2 drive. I currently have 138G of files on the older 160G drive so I doubt that I'll be running out of room any time soon. What prompted my thinking about moving swap was always before booting from hda1; this would make it sda2 and while it probably makes no difference, it would mean I might inadvertently screw things up some time in the future.
