Then there is the DockStar and the BeagleBoard. As a party trick at
DorkBotPDX two weeks ago, we managed to get an ARM Ubuntu to install
on a version of the Beagle board. We had a monitor and keyboard
connected and it was painfully slow (as well it should be).

The Dockstar is around $30.

At Personal Telco, we run linux on 200MHz MIPS-based processors (on
access-point boards). Those sold at retail for on the order of
$40-$70, so you can project backwards to get a guess at how much they
cost to produce. Fon was giving them away at 6 euros each a couple
years ago.
