This morning I killed the gdm (gnome desktop manager) while running Ubuntu 10.04 lucid and came to the customary CLI login screens (tty1-tty7)
However when I went to sign in with my password, Ubuntu refused and kept popping the passwd prompt (up to 5 times then gave an error message) This scared me into thinking that the password for myself had been changed, but later experimentation showed that a strange delay had to take place before I could actually enter in the correct password and actually log in. Anyone know where to look for? I assume the /etc/pam.d area to start? Is the machine trying to do a remote validation on the password? This doesn't seem to happen when logging in under the regular GUI window. I would like to account for this wierdness. _______________________________________________ PLUG mailing list [email protected] http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
