OO Impress is quite weak in displaying PowerPoint files, so i tend to fire up XP in Virtualbox whenever i need to read a presentation.
OO/Libre office are fine for casual spreadsheet and word processing (for serious writing i use Lyx, which i learned about from this fine mailing list). i hope the new team addresses some of the problems with display updating in Writer, it's quite annoying. The UI is functional (moreso than the MS Office 2007 "ribbon" nonsense, imho) but ugly. Switching to LibreOffice on Ubuntu was minimal trouble (thanks to the PPA), and worth the effort. The less contact i have with Larry Ellison's reality, the better. ________________________________________ Joe Shisei Niski Portland, Oregon, USA 至誠 _______________________________________________ PLUG mailing list [email protected] http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
