Now that's the kind of surgical precision I like! It's simple and though 
time consuming, it's not my time it'll consume, and I'll bet this gets 
the job done, too. Not as elegant as a comprehensive analysis of the 
evidence, leading to a deep understanding of all the underlying factors, 
culminating in an informed determination of the cause and dramatically 
concluding with a laser-sharp master stroke, but it'll do.

I'll give that a try. Thanks for this and all the other responses! And 
the 3 - 0 vote for Postfix. Sounds like
replacing sendmail with postxfix should go on my to-do list.
