I have a 32G high-speed SD card for my Panasonic digitatl camcorder. I
just tried for the first time to transfer the SD card's contents to my
computer, but could not do so.

/var/log/messages tells me it's seen as /dev/sdb, and in /etc/fstab that
device is mounted on /mnt/thumb. However, when I try to mount it the attempt
fails:

[rshepard@salmo ~]$ mount /mnt/thumb
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdb,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
        dmesg | tail or so

dmesg does not add much insight:

[rshepard@salmo ~]$ dmesg | tail
sd 8:0:0:0: [sdb] 63485952 512-byte logical blocks: (32.5 GB/30.2 GiB)
sd 8:0:0:0: [sdb] Write Protect is off
sd 8:0:0:0: [sdb] Mode Sense: 03 00 00 00
sd 8:0:0:0: [sdb] Assuming drive cache: write through
sd 8:0:0:0: [sdb] Assuming drive cache: write through
  sdb: sdb1
sd 8:0:0:0: [sdb] Assuming drive cache: write through
sd 8:0:0:0: [sdb] Attached SCSI removable disk
FAT: bogus number of reserved sectors
VFS: Can't find a valid FAT filesystem on dev sdb.

I understand that these cards need to be formatted by the camera. Have any
of you experienced users advice for me to resolve this issue?
