Can the SLAX modules be used with Porteus?  I don't know. Best to contact
someone through the Porteus website to find out.

Another possibility for your purposes is this customized version of Kubuntu
10.04.  It comes with Trinity Desktop Environment (forked from KDE 3.5).  It
is so fast you won't believe it, has the best repos you can imagine, & is
still supported for another year & a half.
