   'locate startxfce4' will tell you that.

   You should have ~/.xfce4 with xinitrc (among other files and directories).
In there you should see the command to run xfce4-session.

   I don't use GDM or KDM so I can't help you set either up to allow you to
choose the desktop environment you want. I log in to a console then use
'startx' as an alias to startxfce4 (which is in /usr/bin/ on Slackware).
