Primus:  Can you read the Win7 disk from your drive normally?  It
should be a normal (for Winderz) ISO9660/Joliet disk, which Linux
should be able to read just fine.

Secundus:  Can qemu-kvm read _any_ disk from the CD/DVD drive?

If either fails, that's probably the source of your immediate problem.

It's been ages since I did anything with VMs, so I'm afraid I wouldn't
be much help there, sorry.  :-(
