While setting up email on a CentOS 6.3 machine, I encountered a problem with dovecot access to maildir directories. It seems that I'm running into this Redhat bug, "selinux policy prevents dovecot domains access to mail_home_rw_t (Maildir)". https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=836241

I'll note the easy workaround, if you're not tied to a certain directory name:

 1. mv $HOME/Maildir to $HOME/maildir
 2. update your MTA and Dovecot configs,
 3. run fixfiles or restorecon,
 4. voila!

In our setup, Dovecot has no trouble whatsoever in a directory typed as user_home_t, as ~/maildir is.
