My test machine, a Gateway E-4500D that I got a couple of months ago at
Free Geek, has developed an odd power problem. I had it on, and wasn't
paying attention to it. I turned to it and move the mouse to bring it
out of power saver mode, but nothing happened. It runs very quietly,
once it's on, so it didn't occur to me that it was powered off.
Eventually I figured that out. However, when I push the power button
nothing happens. I pulled the power cord out of the back, waited a few
seconds, put it back in, and pushed the power button. The fan comes on
loud, which it usually does when the power cord's been disconnected, but
the machine doesn't start to boot, and the blue light in the middle of
the power button does not light.

Any ideas where to start troubleshooting this one?

Thanks.
