I don't know about networking, but there is a fancy system that I am interested in that you can get with a SIIG "universal" dock" that supposedly supplies power as well as networking and more USB ports. It comes to about $2200 decked out the way I want it: http://www.pugetsystems.com/nav/traverse/pro/customize.php?sys_id=61 Looking at the pics it appears that there is a USB 3.0 port on the side, but at the very back, similar to the location of two of the USB ports on my Thinkpad T61. If I connect the SIIG dock to that USB port and the power in back as well, I would have only one cable along the side, and not very much of that. At least it wouldn't be in the way of my mouse. However, I said "it appears" because I can't be sure of the location of the USB 3.0 ports from the low-res pic on their website. Last night I sent them a message asking them to call me, but so far they have not. My shopping so far has produced only the Thinkpad 530 as an alternative. The Thinkpad has a dock similar to what I am used to with my Thinkpad T61. That is a plus, and I am hoping the Thinkpad build quality still holds up for the 530. But the Puget laptop can be had with a Blu-ray burner where Lenovo offers only a reader. Yes, I can get an external, but that is more cables. I haven't called Lenovo yet. I'm really pissed that the Zareason laptops have the USB ports at the front, and they offer no docks. I really like their computers (boots in 15 seconds!) and I want one really bad, but that is a fatal flaw. Very frustrating. Fortunately I am not in a hurry. :) _______________________________________________ PLUG mailing list [email protected] http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
