If you are using Xemacs, the mouse has some really convenient and 
powerful features.

Hold the left mouse button down and drag to mark a region.
Press the middle button (or if you don't have a 3 button mouse, press 
both the left and right buttons) to paste.
After marking a section, press the right button to cut.
