I'm trying to reinstall Mythbuntu on my Jetway machine. This morning, when I put the DVD in the drive, I turned away, then turned back, top find some text and nothing happening. I powered down and restarted the machine. This time the install went as normal. But, after the install Update Manager hung. From past experience I had learned that Update Manager doesn't work right when mythbackend is running, so I tried stopping it before running Update Manager with sudo killall mythbackend. That's the command I copied from an earlier install, which seemed to work before, but didn't work this time. There were a couple of other things with the word mythbackend in the results of ps ax | grep myth, so I tried killing them, too. One of those took out the desktop. At that point I logged in via a terminal screen and halted the box. When I tried reinstalling from the DVD again, I got the screen full of text. That was with Mythbuntu 12.04.3. Thinking the DVD might be the problem I tried an older copy, Mythbuntu 12.04.2. Same results The last lines were:
[ 88.796080] Kernel panic – not syncing: Fatal exception in interrupt [ 88.796080] panic occurred, switching back to text console Any hints as to what's going on? -- Regards, Richard C.
