Ken,

I use dirvish to back up all changed files each night. Restoring a backup
config file from a couple of weeks ago should give me the version that
worked then.

Something screwy happened yesterday. This week I'll make time to finish
building a new system and start configuring it to replace the current
server/workstation. I now have httpd properly working but still have to fix
what I messed up with postgres.

Some folks like line editors. I don't. I wrote my PhD thesis using TDP
(Text and Document Processor) on an HP-3000; TDP was a line editor and a
serious PITA if I forgot to press the [Return] key at the end of a line ...
it's line, not mine. Having to enter and leave various modes (add, modify,
delete) was no fun. That's why I don't like vi. Emacs is a screen editor and
is much more productive for me.

While all generalizations are wrong, it seems to me that sys admins prefer
vi while coders and writers prefer emacs. They're both text editors so
either will do.

Rich
