Brian, I've no specific recommendations since I've not explored portables for a few years. However, I have successfully run linux on Toshibas (Libretto, Portege, and another model whose name I forget), Sony Vaio (a couple of different models), and my Dell Latitude E5410. They range from VHS-cassette size (the Libretto) with 64M RAM to the latest Sony Vaio and Dell Latitude with multiple cores and 4-8G RAM. The lightest I had was the Portege (about 2cm thick; weighed about a kg), and the Dell is probably 4-5 pounds. I get ~6 hours of battery on the Dell. Never used a netbook so I have no experience with 'em. HTH, Rich _______________________________________________ PLUG mailing list [email protected] http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
