Re the fan noise, I notice that it comes on and goes off every few minutes. It's just a soft whooshing noise, not terribly loud, but definitely noticeable. It doesn't bother me, and I have excellent hearing. Continuing with the keyboard saga, while at OSCON today it occurred to me to try Onboard. Onboard is an on-screen keyboard that comes with most 'buntus, including Xubuntu. I am currently booted to the Xubuntu 14.04 live DVD, so I launched Onboard and tried to use it to enter text here and there. It doesn't work at all. Not one letter appears, not in any application. That may be significant, depending on how Onboard works. Unfortunately, Google i not very forthcoming with information about that, an I'm not sure I would understand it even if I could find what I am looking for. How does Onboard send a keypress, and where does it send it? _______________________________________________ PLUG mailing list [email protected] http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
