I am not sure who caught Bryan Smith's OSCON talk on software defined 
radio (SDR) but I overheard, "that was the best talk of OSCON." The part 
about your tire pressure gauges emitting unique IDs AND being subject to 
"you have a flat tire" attacks was eye opening.

My $8 SRD receivers should arrive in a week or two and I loaded up on 
the latest magazines and some certification info at Ham Radio Outlet 
yesterday. I last looked into this when WX radio allowed you to download 
nearly unintelligible weather images and clearly things have come a long 
way. FreeBSD users are welcome to test the updated GNUradio port:
