I am not sure who caught Bryan Smith's OSCON talk on software defined radio (SDR) but I overheard, "that was the best talk of OSCON." The part about your tire pressure gauges emitting unique IDs AND being subject to "you have a flat tire" attacks was eye opening. My $8 SRD receivers should arrive in a week or two and I loaded up on the latest magazines and some certification info at Ham Radio Outlet yesterday. I last looked into this when WX radio allowed you to download nearly unintelligible weather images and clearly things have come a long way. FreeBSD users are welcome to test the updated GNUradio port: http://www.db.net/downloads/ For a taste of all this: http://superkuh.com/rtlsdr.html http://www.hamradioscience.com/the-rtl2832u-elonics-e4000-sdr-radio-aka-the-20-sdr/ And, it seems Ham Nation is still active: http://twit.tv/hn Anyone prepared to give a talk on this?
