Ken, On the laptop, using a Web browser, I opened http://localhost:631 and added the two printers using socket://192.168.55.192:9100 for the one, and .194:9100 for the other. CUPS cannot find that address because it's not world addressable. Perhaps using a port other than socket would solve the problem? If the laptop is away from here it would be the same issue: how to point CUPS on the portable to the proper IP address and port across the 'Net. Perhaps I need to set up a VPN?
