I'd seen clonezilla before, along with many other possibilities, so I wasn't sure which way to jump. Thanks for the recommendation Paul.
Thanks Rich. My home directory is fairly sparse, and the really important stuff gets pushed to a git repository as needed, so it wouldn't be the end of the world if my latest /home backup was a few days, or even a couple of weeks old. That said, having an automatic backup system would certainly be convenient. Again, there are many possible solutions to choose from. My needs are very simple, so something simple to set up and use that handles a simple use case would be best for my purposes. Plug in a USB drive and execute an rsync command would do it, although that's not very convenient or automatic. Is there a way to have such a thing run automatically when I log out? I have an old Netgear ReadyNAS Duo lying around; but I'm not a fan of leaving that running 24/7, nor do I have any idea how to set it up for a Linux system. Anyway, just musing. mitch On Wed, Jan 20, 2016 at 9:21 AM, Rich Shepard <[email protected]> wrote: > On Wed, 20 Jan 2016, Paul Heinlein wrote: > > > For backups, well, you have many more options, each with its own > strengths > > and weaknesses.
