I have been using various Thinkpads with SuSE and Ubuntu for well over decade - I love the keyboards (with the exception of 2014 models), durability and trouble free Linux computing.
Current (2015) X250 and T450 have both internal and external batteries - meaning that you can change the external battery without shutting it down. That is realy handy on long flights.
