A question for you electrical engineers: could a dead battery be the cause of the problems I had with the ThinkPad OS installation? Preparing to continue configuring the notebook/tablet, I disconnected the A/C power cord from the machine. Instant darkness: blank screen; no indicator lights. Won't start unless it's plugged in. I wrote to the vendor and asked them to send me a replacement, 9-cell, battery. If they dither I'll just buy one and downgrade my eBay ratings.
