I purchased a (refurbished) Brother ADS-1700W portable scanner. It has two USB ports on the rear: a micro-USB for the computer and a USB-A female port for flashdrives.
To test the scanner using my desktop I connected the scanner via the USB-A port. The scanner would not turn on. (I've ordered a microsub to USB-3 cable which should be here tomorrow.) My question is whether the scanner wouldn't turn on because the computer was connected to the flashdrive port or if the scanner is defective and needs to be returned. I don't know enough to know if hardware could be highly sensitive to the connecting port. Any thoughts on this? TIA, Rich
