Mystery clarified, but problem remains.
I did a software update on my laptop either yesterday or this morning.
This afternoon I noticed a need to do a refresh (?) to Brave browser.
When it was done, the problem of the expanded window spilling out of the
screen's boundaries was there. A brief search led me to something
indicating the problem is with Brave. No solution was presented, but I
assume a resolution will come along in another update. Meanwhile, when
it matters, I'll use Firefox.
