Looks like somewhere in your NS' preferences-->Navigator-->
Applications, you have associated your gzip with NS so it actually
decompresses and displays it for you. Maybe you should try to change
the "Handle by" column to "Save to disk".
You can also bypass this bahavior by holding down "shift" and pressing
your first mouse button, normally the left button.
