I don't think newbie groups work. Example: the Postgres team has a "pgsql-novice"
list. Not a lot of people use it. The best way to get an answer to your
Postgres-related question is still to post it on the pgsql-general or pgsql-hackers
list.
I've been on the list since '97 (or maybe late '96). While I'm glad that the
Philippine Linux community has grown and flourished, the discussions on PLUG seem to
have deteriorated into to off-topic hardware and rehashed newbie questions. (Note:
This may only be the "old fart" in me talking. Anyone have the PLUG archives from that
long ago?)
I feel many questions could have been answered just by reading the relevant
documentation. Being on a mailing list populated by helpful Linux users is not a
substitute for Reading The F**king Manual/FAQ/Logfiles.
