I download the latest of both 1.5.x and 1.6.x of Cyrus and did a
quick grep but didn't find anything.  And, I think you got
Courier and Cyrus mixed up -- the Mr. Sam I know is a developer
of Courier-IMAP...

Hmmm... I can't remember seeing this mentioned in any security
docs I have read so far.  I'd appreciate it if you can point me
to one.  AFAIK, any other character a-z, like the dot, also
"map" to directories or files in a filesystem...
