Well, since qt *requires* C++, the executables you'll make will tend to be
bigger and use more memory. I don't know if you can program Qt in plain
C. Whereas GTK+ has many many language bindings already, C, C++, Perl,
Python, Guile, etc... GTK+ already has a UI builder called Glade, which
makes the task of designing a UI a little easier. Not sure if Qt already
has something comparable.
If you want a feel for the relative efficiency of both toolkits, try using
Gnome and KDE alternately. My experience with doing this in the past is
that Gnome is definitely faster than KDE, but then I did this experiment
back in the days of Red Hat 5.2... I'm sure there must have been
significant changes since then.
