you are right about 3ware. if u want true AAA-UDMA in major distros like SuSE and 
Redhat, 3ware Escalade is the best way to it. the reason for this in my belief is 
3ware's drivers were written by our kernel hacker Andre Hedrick himself through a 
contracted arrangement bet. him and the company.  specifically we have some 4 boxes 
running on SUSE using this 3ware cards and pretty stable so far..another thing is its 
cheaper than its competitors..... 3ware has a much better chance of becoming the 
standard AAA-UDMA interface for most linux distros....Promise and Adaptec have so so 
linux support and has shown much less of open source initiative based on our 
experience in requesting for hardware documentation.....here in 
Oakland....btw...accdg. to Lionel Watkins of 3ware there is no listed reseller for 
3ware in the Phils. ....
