I have just recently obtained an IBM ThinkPad (I-series), and while it
didn't make me suffer excessively while installing Linux (unlike my old
Toshiba Libretto did...), it is handicapped by an unfortunate design
decision: there are no external RS-232 serial ports! I really need these
ports because my embedded system programming work uses them, and also I
can't even perform hotsync with my Palm IIIe. It's exasperating. The
only solution I can think of, short of getting a different laptop (which
is quite impossible at this point), is to find a USB to RS-232 converter.
Of course one which works with Linux, i.e. is listed as working on this
web page:

http://www.qbik.ch/usb/devices/showdevices.php3?id=12

such as the Keyspan USA-19W Single Port USB to RS-232 serial converter.
Does anyone know where I could buy any of these appropriate devices here
in the Philippines?
