#_ I have just recently obtained an IBM ThinkPad (I-series), and while it
#_ didn't make me suffer excessively while installing Linux (unlike my old
#_ Toshiba Libretto did...), it is handicapped by an unfortunate design
#_ decision: there are no external RS-232 serial ports! I really need these
#_ ports because my embedded system programming work uses them, and also I
#_ can't even perform hotsync with my Palm IIIe. It's exasperating. The
#_ only solution I can think of, short of getting a different laptop (which
#_ is quite impossible at this point), is to find a USB to RS-232 converter.
#_ Of course one which works with Linux, i.e. is listed as working on this
#_ web page:
#_
#_ http://www.qbik.ch/usb/devices/showdevices.php3?id=12
#_
#_ such as the Keyspan USA-19W Single Port USB to RS-232 serial converter.
#_ Does anyone know where I could buy any of these appropriate devices here
#_ in the Philippines?
Does the I-series have an IrDa port? If so, you might be able to hotsync
using Ir. I think coldsync can do it (I'm not sure) You will also have to
download an app that lets the palm IIIe hotsync via Ir, just search in
palmgear.
