#_ Getting myself a Handspring Visor seems like one of my best investment
#_ decisions. It gives me the freedom to read and post to this list far from
#_ the confines of home or office and in the alternative comforts of cafes,
#_ malls, and other places I frequent. With interesting programs like
#_ AvantGo, sitescooper and Plucker, I can conveniently bring around with me
#_ daily updates of websites I patronize and read them at my leisure. I'm
#_ beginning to wonder why I didn't think of getting one of these years ago.
#_ Perhaps it was the lack of personal excess funds, the more sessile
#_ lifestyle of yesteryear that kept me from even considering getting one.
#_ Too bad my Newton died before I could do anything useful with it.
#_
#_ Then, there's also the fact that the older models didn't do as much, or
#_ didn't have good enough support under Linux (to be fair, there was early
#_ support in UNIX albeit rudimentary.)
#_
#_ I'm happy to report that Linux users have a number of tools and programs
#_ that make the decision to take the plunge easier. After all, what use is
#_ a palm/visor if you can only use it with the OS from Redmond.
#_
#_ More drivel on PDA Linux integration when I get home.

Handspring Visor, good choice. I hope you got the 8Mb model. I use coldsync
with my puny IIIe; only 2Mb so I don't bother with Avantgo, although i was
able to get MonkeyMessenger to send SMS w/my 6150 via Ir. Check out
www.primatesys.com; I think they are giving MonkeyMessenger 1.44a free when
you purchase a Handspring Visor. If you are using kernel 2.2.18, it comes
with a Visor usb driver. I have also tried Jpilot - very good.
Keep us posted. Also check out www.mapalad.com (or was it .org?) PDA users
here in 'Pinas. You may also want to cross post to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
