Getting myself a Handspring Visor seems like one of my best investment decisions. It
gives me the freedom to read and post to this list far from the confines of home or
office and in the alternative comforts of cafes, malls, and other places I frequent.
With interesting programs like AvantGo, sitescooper and Plucker, I can conveniently
bring around with me daily updates of websites I patronize and read them at my
leisure. I'm beginning to wonder why I didn't think of getting one of these years ago.
Perhaps it was the lack of personal excess funds, the more sessile lifestyle of
yesteryear that kept me from even considering getting one. Too bad my Newton died
before I could do anything useful with it.
Then, there's also the fact that the older models didn't do as much, or didn't have
good enough support under Linux (to be fair, there was early support in UNIX albeit
rudimentary.)
I'm happy to report that Linux users have a number of tools and programs that make the
decision to take the plunge easier. After all, what use is a palm/visor if you can
only use it with the OS from Redmond.
More drivel on PDA Linux integration when I get home.
