Thanks for your help.  I tried your suggestion but it was not successful. 
Balsa acted weird after I tried filtering. 
BTW, is it okey for the mail to be stored in /var/spool/mail/"username" ? 
Is'nt this a temporary placeholder for mails only and that it should be in
/home/"username"/mail/inbox?
